In life’s journey, when you help another person to achieve their dream to do a job that they love, by coaching or mentoring, or by helping them to build their own startup, it’s very meaningful. Using your entrepreneurial skills and wisdom to help someone see something with a different and new perspective is powerful, and helping others can also expand your own outlook. It’s in times like these, when you’ve reached a place when you’re ready to give back, that you can really make a difference in the working life of others.

About Startup Boost Toronto

Startup Boost Toronto is a global pre-accelerator program brought to you by TWG, that prepares startups for top accelerators and seed investors by providing mentorship, investor introductions and access to a network of investors, mentors and founders.

The program is designed in such a way that founders are able to continue building their product, while receiving top quality mentorship and getting access to a global network. The commitment is weekly sessions on Tuesdays (6–9 PM) for 6 weeks at TWG. It’s free of charge and no equity is taken.

What to expect as a mentor or a participating startup

This is a program run by the community, for the community, so we always try to involve as many local startup ecosystem players as possible.

The schedule is as follows:

• Week 1: Business Model Canvas deep dive
• Week 3: Pitch Decks — Dos and Don’ts
• Week 4: Market Sizing (Not 1% of the market)
• Week 2: Customer Development to avoid confirmation bias
• Week 5: Finding Product Market Fit
• Week 6: Venture Funding and Accelerators

Participants can expect lectures, pitch coaching and help with storytelling about their startup, hands on mentorship to look at challenge areas and holes in the business, and advice on focus and priority areas to advance the business.

What kind of startups are accepted into Startup Boost Toronto?

• A curated group of 5–7 high quality pre-seed stage tech startups per program.
• Under the radar, but have a strong potential of becoming big success stories.
• Soon to become venture backed companies with more resources and needs.
• Still flexible about what partners & service providers they will choose to build their company.
