You don't need a full-time CMO yet. You don't need a bloated high-cost agency. You need someone who has done this before.

Unicorn Rocket Marketing is the fractional VP Marketing go-to for seed to Series B startups that are ready to grow — but not ready to hire a full-time marketing executive. I'm Amanda Connon-Unda. I embed with your team to build the marketing foundation, positioning, and content engine that gets you to your next milestone.

Most early-stage startups are stuck in the same place.

You've validated product-market fit. You have a small team. You know marketing matters — but you don't have the bandwidth to lead it properly, and you're not ready to commit to a full-time executive hire.

So marketing becomes the thing that happens between everything else. Inconsistent. Reactive. Hard to measure.

That's where I come in.

The track record

From seed to acquisition.

I've helped teams take startups from under $1M to $20M in revenue — and two of them got acquired along the way.

Zero to one

Augmenta, early Rangle.io — building the marketing engine from nothing.

One to twenty

Elevate — scaling revenue from $1M to $20M, and the team to 150 people, in four years.

Built to be acquired

DarwinAI → Apple, TWG → Deloitte — brands strong enough that acquirers noticed.

I don't just build pipeline. I build the story that gets you funded, acquired, or both.

Simple. Embedded. Accountable.

You might be a fit if…

You have an in-house marketing person or operator who needs a senior leader to coach and direct them.

You're a seed or Series A founder with a product that's working but marketing that isn't.

Your VC has suggested it's time to get serious about go-to-market.

You've tried hiring a junior marketer and realized what you actually need is strategic leadership.

You want someone who can do the thinking and the doing — not just hand you a 40-page deck.

12 years scaling tech companies. Now doing it fractionally.

Based in Toronto · Working across North America

I've led marketing at growth-stage tech companies across B2B: software services consulting, developer tools, events, tech accelerators, and AI products — building the systems, teams, and campaigns that moved the numbers.

Before that, I spent years covering the arts and culture beat — as a journalist, a CBC contributor, and someone who genuinely believes that how you tell a story is as important as what you're selling. I've driven revenue lifts for ticket sales for tech events.

I started Unicorn Rocket because I believe great marketing leadership shouldn't only be available to companies that can afford to hire it full-time. Seed-stage, Series A & B stage companies deserve the same strategic rocket fuel.
